Even if thieves realize that a car is equipped with a monitoring system and disable the GPS/GSM module, the stolen vehicle can still be recovered, provided it has an additional radio module. This was the case with a Mercedes C-Class found in France.
The “disappearance” of cars in France belonging to Polish car rental companies stopped surprising us some time ago.Therefore, we knew that in the case of the Mercedes C-Class, whose owners reported the theft to us, we needed to act quickly.
The vehicle was rented to a French rental company. Then it was lent to another French rental company, where after some time it stopped transmitting the location signal. It turned out that the thieves had removed the GPS/GSM module from the car. However, we located the Mercedes thanks to the GanTrack radio module, which is part of the GanTotal monitoring system installed in the car.
A few hours after the theft was reported, the vehicle was secured by the French police with the assistance of a debt collection company befriended by Gannet Guard Systems.
